The Short Answer
Most tree removals in Middle Tennessee run somewhere between $750 and $3,500, with storm-damaged or hazardous trees sometimes running higher. The exact number depends mostly on one thing: size. Everything else — access, lean, proximity to structures — shifts the price within that range.
Pricing by Tree Size
Small trees (under 30 ft): $750–$1,250. Think ornamentals, young trees, and smaller hardwoods that haven't matured yet.
Medium trees (30–60 ft): $950–$1,800. Most mature shade trees in a typical yard fall in this range.
Large trees (60 ft and up): $1,500–$3,500+. Mature oaks, poplars, and other large hardwoods, especially with tight access or work near a structure.
Storm-damaged or hazard trees: $1,250–$4,000+. Priced by risk and access rather than size alone — a leaning tree resting on a roofline takes more care (and equipment) than a straightforward removal in an open yard.
What Actually Moves the Price
Size gets you into the right ballpark, but a few other factors shift the number within it: how close the tree is to a house, fence, or power line; whether there's room for equipment or everything has to be done by hand and rope; whether the tree is leaning or already compromised; and how much cleanup is involved.
Stump grinding isn't included in removal pricing by default — it's a separate add-on, typically $300 to $600+ depending on diameter. If you know you want the stump gone too, ask for a bundled price when you book the removal; it's usually a better rate than booking them separately.
Getting an Accurate Number
Any quote given without seeing the tree in person is a guess. We give written estimates on-site, after actually looking at the tree's size, lean, and access — that's the only way to give you a number you can trust instead of a range that could swing by thousands of dollars either direction.
